For what object and on what terms.

For tearing down and rebuilding the United States' wharves and piers in the harbor of
Chester, Pa., for the sum of four thousand three hundred dollars. In consequence of
the work having been delayed by unfavorable weather, the time of the completion of
the contract was extended to May 1, 1853.

For removing the rock, situated at the entrance to New Haven harbor, Connecticut,
known as the Middle rock, for the sum of six thousand dollars.
(Supplementary.) For the same purpose.

For deepening the bar at the Southwest pass, Mississippi river, to eighteen feet at ordi-
nary low water, with a width of not less than three hundred feet, for the sum of
seventy-five thousand dollars.
For excavating a canal, to connect the waters of Indian river with Mosquito lagoon, at
the "
Haulover," Florida, for the sum of four thousand eight hundred dollars.
For excavating the outer and inner bars of the harbor of Bridgeport, Connecticut, 27,000
cubic yards of sand and gravel, at the rate of 30 cents per cubic yard.

For the construction of a steam-dredging machine to be used in the waters of the Chesa-
peake bay and Atlantic coast, for the sum of ten thousand five hundred dollars.
For constructing a breakwater in Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana, one thousand feet in
length, at $12 50 per lineal foot; also a fender, at $1 50 per running foot.

For the construction of four dumping scows or lighters, and delivery of the same at the

the bay of Mobile, for the sum of nineteen thousand dollars.

For continuing and repairing the existing stone pier at Kennebunk, Maine, for the sum
of $4 50 for each and every cubic yard of stone laid and measured in the wall.
For furnishing stone for Delaware breakwater, at $3 25 per ton for all stone over 3 tons
weight; over 2 and less than 3 tons, $2 91; over and less than 2 tons, $1 70 per
ton: the whole amount of deliveries not to exceed in the aggregate the sum of
$20,000.

For the delivery of 240,000 feet of plank, (board measure,) at Fort Jefferson, Garden
Key, Tortugas islands, Florida, at the rate of $22 50 per 1,000, board measure.
For deepening the channel of the Appamatox river by dredging, for the sum of eighty-
eight thousand six hundred and twenty dollars.

For improving the Savannah river by dredging 85,000 cubic yards (more or less) of
sand, mud, &c., at 32 cents per cubic yard.

For dredging and removing 17,000 cubic yards of earth from the shoal known as the
"Crook," near the mouth of the Seekonk river, in the harbor of Providence, R. I.,
at the rate of 243 cents per cubic yard.

For the delivery, at Mobile, of four dumping scows, at one thousand seven hundred dol-
lars for each scow.

For dredging a channel across the bar at the junction of the Hackensack and Passaic
rivers, in Newark bay, N. J., at the rate of 243 cents for each cubic yard of matter
excavated.

For medical attendance on laborers, at Fort Delaware: When the aggregate number of
laborers are above 50, the pay and emoluments of an assistant surgeon U. S. A. of less
than five years standing; when below fifty, $50 per mont!

For constructing and placing in the dike, at Fort Mifflin, a substantial sluice, for the sum
of two hundred and seventy-five dollars.
For building a pier 90 feet long and 45 feet wide, for the protection of the harbor of New
Castle from flood-tide ice, for the sum of $10,000; together with $300 a foot for every
foot in height of said pier he shall have constructed over 36 feet; and $300 a foot shall
be deducted from the $10,000 for every foot less than 36 that shall not have been con-
structe!. If said work is not finished, according to the terms of this agreement, by the
31st day of January, 1854, then the said William H. Robin shall only receive for said
work $9,300, together with $30) a foot for every foot in height of said pier he s'ill
have constructed over 36 feet; and $300 a foot shall be deducted from the $9,300 for
every foot less than 36 that shall not have been constructed.

For excavating all the earth which the Engineer Department of the United States may
require to be removed from the Choctaw pass and the Dog River bar, in the harbor of
Mobile, under existing appropriations by Congres for the improvement of said har-
bor, for the sum of five cents per cubic yard, and remove the same to a suitable dis-
tance, under conditions mentioned in the contract.
