REPORT

Of the select committee on the petition of John I.
Vanderkemp, general agent of the Holland Land
Company.

The select committee, to whom was referred the petition of John
J. Vanderkemp, general agent of the Holland land company, pray-
ing for the passage of an act to enable Wilhem Willink and oth-
ers, to purchase and hold certain real estate therein mentioned,

REPORT:

That the petitioner states in his petition, that in December, 1804,
Wilhem Willink and others, citizens of Amsterdam, in the United
Netherlands, being, under the provisions of the general alien law
of 2d April, 1798, seised in fee simple as joint tenants, of a large
tract of land in the state of New-York, sold and conveyed to
Lemuel Chipman and Oliver Phelps, of the county of Ontario, by
two several deeds of conveyance, two townships of the said lands
situate in the county of Genesee, one of which was known as town-
ship number nine, in the third range of townships, containing by
estimation, fifteen thousand, five hundred and forty acres of land,
and the other was known as township number nine, in the fourth
range, containing by estimation, fourteen thousand, five hundred
and seventeen acres of land, and at the same time, the said Chip-
man and Phelps, executed to the said Wilhem Willink and others,
two several mortgages, for the purchase money of said townships;
the one for fifteen thousand four hundred and thirty-five dollars
seventy-eight cents, and the other, for fourteen thousand five hun-
dred and sixteen dollars. Chipman and Phelps went into posses-
