ON CONSCIOUSNESS OF SIN.
'If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves,

The failures which so frequently discourage us are
no sign that our progress is not real-How far
worse our condition when we do not observe our
failures-The perfect forgiveness through Christ-Our
very distress a sign that the work of purification is
going on -The only condition of being kept from
failure is that of abiding closely in Christ-Our pro-
gress to be gradual― Failures turned into a means
of advancing in our Christian course; first by the
knowledge they give of our own sinfulness, secondly by
the experience of our Saviour's Love
