These sums were voted in December, 1852, but the Appropriation Act for 1852-3 having previously received the Royal Assent, they were included in the Act for the appropriation of the Supplies granted for the Service of the year 1853–4.

The Act 10 Geo. 4, c. 27, which came into operation at the 5th July, 1829, enacts, "That the Sum thenceforth annually applicable to the Reduction of the National Debt of the United Kingdom, shall be the Sum which shall appear to be the Amount of the whole actual annual surplus Revenue, beyond the Expenditure of the said United Kingdom;" and the following sums Fave been accordingly received by the Commissioners for the Reduction of the National Debt, including Sums on account of Donations and Bequests, viz.:
