Ezekiel Leonard, Esquire, Sheriff, and John Harper, Coroner, for the county of Chester. Coroner for the county of

Peter Filbert, Esquire, Sheriff and Berks.

And John Miller, Esquire, Sheriff, and John Offner, Coroner. for the county of Lancaster.

The following gentlemen were offered as sureties for the Sheriffs before appointed and accepted by Council:

For Joseph Cowperthwaite, Samuel Miles, Jacob Morgan and William Coats, tauner.

Timothy Pickering, Esquire, appearing in Council, the oaths of office were administered to him as Prothonotary of the Court of Common Pleas, Clerk of the General Court of Quarter Sessions of the Peace and Orphans' Court, and a Justice of the Common Pleas for the county of Luzerne.

A deed was examined and signed by the Honorable Charles Biddle, Esquire, Vice President, for Martha Willet, for a tract of one bundred and seventy-two acres and one hundred and forty-four perches of land, situate in the township of Southampton, in the county of Bucks, late the estate of Walter Willet, forfeited by his attainder of high treason. Deed dated this day.

An order was drawn on the Treasurer in favor of William Rees, for thirteen pounds seventeen shillings and six pence, for the improvement of the State House yard, until the 12th of October instant, inclusively, according to the Comptroller General's report.

An order was drawn upon the Treasurer in favor of Benjamin G. Eyres, Esquire, for sixty-six pounds fifteen shillings, iu full of his account for ship room for the East Indiaus, from the 30th of

December, 1785, until the 27th of September, 1786, and for firewood and damages sustained, according to the Comptroller General's report.

Two following orders were drawn upon the Treasurer, vizt:

In favor of the Honorable Henry Hill, Esquire, for twenty-one pounds fifteen shillings, in full for his attendance in Council until the thirtieth day of September last.

In favor of the Honorable Arthur St. Clair, Esquire, for one hundred and thirty-five pounds, in full for his attendance in Congress until the 8th inst., inclusively.

Returns of the General Elections in the counties of Northamp ton, Dauphine, and Montgomery, were presented to Council and read, by which it appeared that the following gentlemen were duly elected.

Zebulon Potts, Sheriff, and Stephen Bloom, Coroner, for the county of Montgomery; and Anthony Kelker, Esquire, Sheriff, and Peter Miller, Coroner, for the county of Dauphine.

The following gentlemen were offered as sureties, and approved by Council:

For Peter Ealer, Esquire, Jonas Hartzel and Peter Seip, Esquire.

For Zebulon Potts, Esquire, Samuel Wheeler, Joseph Tyson, and Henry Pauling.

For Anthony Kelker, Esquire, Daniel Bradley, and Christopher Ubler.

Upon the petition of Jacob Shupe, of Nockamixon township, in the county of Bucks, an order was taken that the fine to the State imposed upon a certain Joseph Van Flea, upon conviction of passing counterfeit dollars, knowing them to be such, in the said county, be remitted.

An order was drawn upon the Treasurer in favor of the Honorable Samuel Dean, Esquire, for fifteen pounds, in full for his attendance in Council untill this day, inclusively.

The fine due to the State imposed upon Elizabeth McConnell, upon conviction of retailing spirituous liquors without licence, in the county of Lancaster, was remitted, upon her petition and a recommendation from the Court.

A letter from the Secretary of Congress, enclosing a late ordinance of Congress for instituting a Board of Commissioners of Ac

counts.

A return of the General Election for the county of Cumberland was read, and Charles Leiper thereupon appointed and commissionated Sheriff, and William Blair, Jun'r, Coroner. William Miller and Alexander McGighen, were offered and accepted as securities for Charles Leiper.

A return of the General Election for the county of York was read, and John Edie thereupon appointed and commissionated Sheriff, and Andrew Johnston Coroner. Samuel Edie and David McCaunaghy were offered and accepted as security for John Edie.

An order was drawn upon the Treasurer in favor of Robert Wood, for sixty pounds, in full of his account for twelve hundred pieces of parchment furnished for patenting the donation lands to officers and soldiers of this State, according to the Comptroller General's report, and an act of Assembly dated 24th of March, 1785.

Returns of the General Election for the counties of Franklin, Northumberland and Northampton, were received and read.

William McClay, Esquire, from Northumberland, and Robert Trail, Esquire, from Northampton, were admitted to seats at this Board, agreeably to the returns aforesaid, after having taken the oath prescribed by the Constitution of the State.

Orders were drawn upon the Treasurer in favor of James Pearson, for one hundred and ninety-five pounds five shillings and six pence, and thirty-seven pounds six shillings and one penny, being the ballance due upon his two accounts for repairing the State House and improving the State House lot, according to the Comptroller General's report.

A return of the General Election for the county of Washington was received and read, by which it appears that David Redick, Esquire, was duly elected Counsellor; James Marshall and William Wallace, Sheriffs; and William McConnell and Joseph Wherry, Coroners for the said county.
