Mr. Gates expected to make no friends by this candid representation of truth, and hoped to gain no enemies. There was an aversion in him to hurt the feelings of anyone. What he has written he wrote from the clearest conviction of truth, and sent it forth among the children of men as one that must give an account before God for the things that have been committed to him, and would be found faithful.
