Resolved, That they insist on their amendments disagreed to by the House of Representatives to the said bill, and disagree to the amendments of the House of Representatives to their amendments to the same.

Ordered, That the Secretary notify the House of Representatives accordingly.

Mr. Atherton, from the Committee on Printing, to whom was referred a motion, by Mr. Yulee, for the printing five thousand additional copies of the report of the Secretary of the Treasury, communicated to the Senate the 23d July, reported against printing the same; and the report was agreed to.

Mr. Atherton, from the Committee on Printing, to whom was referred a resolution submitted by Mr. Yulee, for printing three hundred copies of the maps of the coast survey, reported against printing the same; and the report was agreed to.

On motion by Mr. Morehead,

Ordered, That the executors of Robert Portersfield have leave to withdraw their petition.

On motion by Mr. Evans,

Ordered, That T. P. Jones have leave to withdraw his petition and papers.

Mr. Lewis, from the Committee on Finance, to whom was referred the message of the President of the United States of this day, reported a bill (S. 260) appropriating two millions of dollars, to enable the President to conclude a treaty of peace and limits with Mexico.

The bill was read, and passed to the second reading.

Mr. President: The House of Representatives insist on their amendments to certain amendments of the Senate to the bill (H. R. 50) making appropriations for the civil and diplomatic expenses of government for the year ending 30th June, 1847, and on their disagreement to other amend

ments of the Senate to the same; ask a conference on the disagreeing votes of the two houses, and have appointed Mr. McKay, Mr. Boyd, and Mr. Severance, a committee of conference on their part.

The House of Representatives agree to some and disagree to other amendments of the Senate to the bill (H. R. 116) making appropriations for the support of the Military Academy for the year ending the 30th June, 1847, and for other purposes.

The House of Representatives have passed the bill from the Senate (S. 64) to provide for the more effectual publication of the laws of the United States, with an amendment: in which they request the concurrence of the Senate.

The House of Representatives concur in the amendments of the Senate to bills and resolutions of the House of Representatives of the following titles:

H. R. 54. An act to refund to certain persons an excess of duty exacted on the importation of foreign merchandise.

H. R. 106. An act granting certain lands to the Territory of Iowa to aid in the improvement of the navigation of the Des Moines river, in said Territory.

H. R. 142. An act for the relief of Wiley B. Parnell, of Blount county, Alabama, and James A. Whiteside, of Illinois.

H. R. 239. An act for the relief of Ebenezer Conant, of the county of Jefferson, State of New York.

H. R. 266. An act for the relief of James Gee.

H. R. 445. An act to establish an additional land office in Iowa.
