14 AND he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.

15 AND he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

16 AND there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.

MORE ARE HEALED IN GALILEE.

LUKE VII: 18-22.

ND the disciples of John shewed him of all

A these things.

19 AND John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?

22

WHEN the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?

AND in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.

THEN Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

IN CHORAZIN, BETHSAIDA AND CAPERNAUM.
MATTHEW XI: 20-23.

THEN

HEN began he to upbraid the cities wherein 20 most of his mighty works were done, be

cause they repented not:

WOE unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Beth-21 saida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

BUT I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable 22 for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than

for

you.

AND thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto 23 heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

SEA OF GALILEE. ALSO CALLED Lake of Galilee, Lake
OF GENNESARET, AND SEA OF TIBERIAS. MATTHEW
VIII: 23-27.

ND when he was entered into a ship, his dis-
ciples followed him.

24 AND, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

25 AND his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

26 AND he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked

the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of 27 man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

HEALS DEMONIAC OF GADARA.

A

SOUTHEAST OF SEA OF GALILEE. LUKE VIII: 26-39.

ND they arrived at the country of the Gada-26 renes, which is over against Galilee.

AND when he went forth to land, there met him 27 out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.

49

WHEN he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down 28 before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. (FOR he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)

AND Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? 30 And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.

AND they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

31

AND there was there an herd of many swine feed-32

ing on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.

33 THEN went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked. 34 WHEN they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.

35 THEN they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

36 THEY also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed. 37 THEN the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.

38 Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,

39 RETURN to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.
