Caracach Mehemet, the officer of the jebeggis, who had been the first inftigator of the insurrection, and Ferrari bashaw, the caimacan, appeared with four hundred spahis at the gates of the town, which were opened to them without the least resistance. They proceeded to the seraglio, and ordered the trembling bostangis to introduce them into the grand feignior's chamber. It was of no use for VOL. IV.
