his Excellency General Washington, was re-considered; and it appearing to the Council that a balance of ninety pounds three shillings and six pence specie, is due to the said company; on consideration,

Resolved, That the sum of ninety pounds three shillings and six pence specie, be paid to the said Captain Livergood's company of Riflemen, in full of their services, anything in the order of this Board of the sixteenth instant to the contrary notwithstanding.

The following orders were drawn on the Treasurer, vizt:

In favor of Captain Jacob Livergood, for the sum of fifteen pounds specie, in full for his services as Captain of a company of Riflemen, raised at the request of his Excellency General Washington.

In favor of Moses Scott, for the sum of three pounds seven shillings and six pence specie, in full for his services as Sergeant in the said company of Riflemen.

In favor of Mr. James Stevenson, for the sum of ninety pounds specie, in part of his pay as one of the Auditors for settling the depreciation of the pay of the Pennsylvania line, for which he is to

account.

In favor of Colonel Stephen Balliott, for the sum of seven hundred and fifty pounds specie, in part of his account for supplying the militia with provisions for the year 1781, called out for the defence of the frontiers of Northampton county.

An order was drawn on the Treasurer in favor of Colonel Jacob Morgan, late Superintendant of the Commissioners of Purchase in the several counties, for the sum of three hundred and fifty pounds specie, for paying for provisions purchased for the use of the army, for which he is to account.

A petition from Marcus McCausland, praying permission to go into New York and to return again, was read; and Ordered, To lie under the table.

An order was drawn on the Treasurer in favor of Captain Joseph Stiles, Commissary of Military Stores, for the sum of three hundred pounds specie, for the purpose of repairing arms for the use of the State, for which he is to account.

Captain Stiles having represented to the Board that the Guard house near the magazine is in a shattered condition, on consideration,

Ordered, That Captain Stiles be directed to get the same repaired as soon as may be, at the most reasonable rate, so as to make it fit for the guard to be stationed there for the magazine.

The Council resumed the consideration of the petition of Marcus McCausland, praying permission to go into the city of New York, and to return again; and thereupon,

Resolved, That the said prayer of the said petition be not granted, it being contrary to a general rule of this Board to grant passes to New York, with permission to return, but that a pass be granted to the petitioner to go to Elizabeth town and return.

An order was drawn on the Treasurer in favor of John McCashen, for the sum of ten pounds specie, for paying for the transportation of cloathing for the Ranging companies of Westmoreland and Washington counties from Philadelphia to Shippensburg.

A petition from David Reeder, convicted of a misdemeanor at the last Court of Oyer and Terminer and General Gaol Delivery, held at Newtown, for the county of Bucks, and sentenced to pay a fine to the use of the State of twenty-five pounds, pay the costs of prosecution, and stand committed till the sentence be complied with, was read, praying remission of the said fine. On consideration,

Resolved, That the said petition be dismissed.

An order was drawn on the Treasurer in favor of Colonel Richard Humpton, for the sum of fifteen hundred pounds specie, for the purpose of recruiting the Pennsylvania line, for which he is to

A petition from John Hill, praying permission to go into New York and to return again, was read; and on consideration,

Resolved, That the prayer of the said petition be not granted, it being contrary to a general rule of this Board to grant passes to New York with permission to return.

Ordered, That a pass be granted to the petitioner to go to Elizabethtown and return.

The following deeds were examined and signed by his Excellency the President, vizt:

To Thomas M'Intire, Esquire, for lots No. 7 & 8, containing two hundred and ninety-three acres and one perch of land, situate in Tinicum township, in the county of Bucks, being part of the estate of John Reed, an attainted traitor, forfeited to the use of the State, and sold agreeably to law, for the sum of nine hundred and nine pounds two shillings and eight pence specie, which sum the said Thomas M'Intire hath paid into the hands of the Agents of Forfeited Estates for the said county. Deed dated the 29th January, 1782.

To Henry Dorough, for six acres of land in the county of Bucks, late the estate of Owen Roberts, an attainted traitor, forfeited to the use of the State, and sold agreeably to law, for the sum of one hundred and seventeen pounds, Continental money, which sum the

said Henry Dorough hath paid into the hands of the said Agents. Deed dated the 29th of January, 1782.

To George Honey, Junior, for lot No. 1379, in the city of Philadelphia, soid agreeably to law for the redemption of the bills of credit of this State of the 29th day of April, 1780, and marked in the general plan of city lots as aforesaid. Consideration sixty-two pounds. Deed dated the 29th of January, 1782.

A letter from Matthew Clarkson, assistant to the Secretary at War, of the twenty-ninth instant, inclosing resolutions of Congress of the twenty-first day of December last, recommending to the Legislature of each State to appoint one or more places ef rendezvous for recruits, to supply such recruits with provisions from the time of mustering until they shall join the army, and give notice to the Commander-in-Chief of the places so appointed, was read; and thereupon,

Ordered, That the same be laid before the General Assembly at their next meeting.

The Board took into consideration the appointing a President of the City Court for the city of Philadelphia; and thereupon,

Resolved, That Plunket Fleeson, Esquire, be appointed President of the City Court for the city of Philadelphia, and commissioned for and during the pleasure of this Council.

Resolved, That William Rush, Esquire, be appointed and commissioned one of the Judges of the said City Court, in the room of John Ord, Esquire, lately deceased.

A petition from William Bennett, praying a pass to New York for his wife and his son Barnet Bennett, and to return again, was read; and thereupon, the said petition was rejected, it being contrary to a rule of the Board to grant passes to New York with permission to return.

Ordered, That a pass be granted to the said William Bennett to go to Elizabethtown and to return.
