usieron sus ropas á los pies de un nancebo, que se llamaba Saulo.

59 Y apedreaban á Estevan, que nvocaba á Dios, y decía: Señor Jesus recibe mi espíritu.

60 Y puesto de rodillas clamó en alta voz, diciendo: Señor, no les imputes este pecado. Y cuando hubo dicho estó, durmió en el Senor.

59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

CAPITULO VIII.

Y SAULO consentía en su muer

CHAPTER VIII.

his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

3 Mas Saulo asolaba la Iglesia entrando por las casas, y arrebatando de ellas hombres y mugeres, los ponía en la carcel.

4 Mas los que habían sido esparcidos, iban de una parte á otra anunciando la palabra.

5 Entonces Felipe descendiendo á la ciudad de Samaria, les predicaba Christo.

6 Y las gentes escuchaban atentamente unánimes todas las cosas que decía Felipe, oyendo, y viendo los milagros que hacía.

7 Porque los espíritus inmundos salían de muchos que los tenían dando grandes voces, y muchos paralíticos y cojos eran curados.

8 Así que había gran gozo en aquella ciudad.

9 Y había un varon llamado Simon, el cual egerció antes el arte mágica en aquella ciudad, y había engañado á la gente de Samaria, diciendo que era una cierta gran persona.

3 As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

8 And there was great joy in that city.

9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great

one:

10 Al cual desde el menor al mayor todos daban oidos, diciendo: este hombré es el gran poder de Dios.

11 Y le estaban atentos: porque con sus artes mágicas los tenía embaucados desde mucho tiempo. 12 Mas habiendo creido á Felipe, que les predicaba cosas pertenecientes al reyno de Dios, y al nombre de Jesu-Christo, eran bautizados hombres y mugeres.

13 Entonces el mismo Simon creyó tambien, y habiendo sido bautizado continuó con Felipe, y viendo los milagros y grandes maravillas que se hacían, estaba atónito.

14 Oyendo pues los Apóstoles que estaban en Jerusalem, que Samaria había recibido la palabra, de Dios, les enviaron á Pedro y á Juan.

15 Los cuales llegados que fueron, oraron por ellos paraque recibiesen el Espíritu Santo.

16 Porque aun no había descendido sobre alguno de ellos, sino que solamente habían sido bautizados en el nombre del Señor Jesus.

17 Entonces les pusieron las manos encima, y recibieron el Espíritu Santo.

10 To whom they all gave heed from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.

11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

19 Diciendo: dadme tambien á mí esta potestad, que cualquiera á quien yo impusiere las manos, reciba el Espíritu Santo.

19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

22 Arrepientete pues de esta tu maldad, y ruega á Dios, si tal vez te será perdonado este pensamiento de tu corazon.

23 Porque veo que estás en hiel

right in the sight of God.

22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

23 For I perceive that thou art

24 Respondiendo entonces Simon, lijó: rogad vosotros por mí al Sehor, paraque no venga sobre mí ninguna cosa, de las que habeis licho.

25 Y ellos despues de haber dado estimonio, y anunciado la palabra lel Señor, se volvieron á Jerusaem, y anunciaban el Evangelio en nuchos lugares de los Samaritanos. 26 Y el Angel del Señor habló á Felipe, diciendo: levantate, y vé nácia el mediodia por la via, que lesciende de Jerusalem á Gaza, la Cual es desierta.

27 El entonces levantóse, y fué : Y he aquí un varon Ethiope, eunuto, valido de Candace reyna de Ethiopa, el cual era superintendente de todos sus tesoros, y había venido para adorar en Jerusalem.

28 Y volvía, y sentado sobre su carro leía el Profeta Isaías.

29 Y el Espíritu dijó á Felipe: Acercate, y llegate á ese carro.

30 Y acudiendo Felipe, oyó le que leía al Profeta Isaías, y le dijó: ¿Entiendes lo que lees?

31 Y él le dijo: ¿Y cómo podré, si alguno no me enseña? Y rogó á Felipe que subiese, y se sentase con él.

32 Y el lugar de la Escritura, que leía, era este: como oveja fué llevado al matadero, y como cordero mudo delante del que le trasquila, así él no abrió su boca.

33 En su abatimiento su juicio fué quitado: ¿mas su generacion quién la contará? Porque su vida es quitada de la tierra.

34 Y respondiendo el eunuco á Felipe, dijo: ruegote ¿ de quién dijó esto el profeta? ¿De sí mismo ó de algun otro?

35 Entonces Felipe abriendo la

24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.

25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south, unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. 29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

32 The place of the Scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, 1 pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

35 Then Philip opened his mouth,

36 Y yendo por el camino llegaron á una agua, y dijole el eunuco: He aquí agua ¿qué impide que sea yo bautizado?

37 Y Felipe dijó: si crees de todo corazon, bien puedes. Y él respondiendo, dijo: Creo que Jesu-Christo es el hijo de Dios.

38 Y mandó parar el carro, y descendieron ambos al agua, Felipe y el eunuco, y le bautizó.

39 Y cuando subieron del agua, el Espíritu del Señor arrebató á Felipe, y no le vió mas el eunuco. Y se fué gozoso por su camino.

40 Y Felipe se halló en Azoto, y pasando anunciaba el Evangelio en todas las ciudades, hásta que vinó á Cesarea.

CAPITULO IX.

SAULO respirando aun ame

Y nazas, y muerte contra los discípulos del Señor, se presentó al Príncipe de los Sacerdotes.

2 Y le pidió cartas para las Sinagogas de Damasco, fin de que si hallaba hombres ó mugeres de esta secta, los llevase presos á Jerusalem.

3 Y yendo por el camino, aconteció que llegando cerca de Damasco, repentinamente le cercó un resplandor de luz del cielo.

4 Y cayendo en tierra, oyó una voz, que le decía: Saulo, Saulo, ¿porque me persigues?

5 Y él dijó: quien eres Señor? Y el Señor dijó. Yo soy Jesus á quien tú persigues: dura cosa te es dar coces contra el aguijon.

6 Y temblando, y despavorido,

and preached unto him Jesus. 36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

40 But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Cesarea.

CHAPTER IX.

AND Saul, yet breathing out

threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,

2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. 3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

6 And he trembling and aston

7 Y los hombres que viajaban con él, se quedaron atónitos oyendo á la voz, mas no viendo á nadie.

8 Entonces Saulo se levantó de tierra, y abriendo los ojos no veía á nadie, y ellos llevandole por la mano, le metieron en Damasco.

9 Y estuvo allí tres dias sin ver, y no comió ni bebió.

10 Y había entonces en Damasco un discípulo llamado Ananías, al cual dijó el Señor en vision: Ananías; Y él respondió: Heme aquí Señor.

11 Y el Señor le dijó; levantate, y vé á la calle que se llama Derecha, y busca en casa de Júdas á uno de Tarso llamado Saulo; porque he aquí está orando.

12 Y había visto en vision á un varon llamado Ananías entrando, y poniendole las manos encima paraque recobrase la vista.

13 Y Ananías respondió: Señor: á muchos he oido de este hombre, cuantos males ha hecho á tus santos en Jerusalem.

14 Y aun aquí tiene facultad de los Príncipes de los Sacerdotes para prender á cuantos invocan tu nombre.

15 Y le dijó el Señor: vé, porque él me es un vaso escogido paraque lleve mi nombre delante de las gentes, y de los Reyes, y de los hijos de Israel.

16 Porque yo le mostraré cuantas cosas le es necesario padecer por mi nombre.

17 Entonces fué Ananías, y entró en la casa, y poniendole las manos encima, dijo: Saulo hermano, el Señor Jesus que te apareció en el camino por donde venías, me ha

7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

8 And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.

9 And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.

10 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.

11 And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,

12 And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:

14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.

15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, evin Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way
