GALATIANS-EPHESIANS.

EPISTLE TO THE GALATIANS.

Be not deceived, God is not mocked; for whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap. He that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption, but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Let us not be weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have opportunity, let us do good to all men.

EPISTLE TO THE EPHESIANS.

Putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour.

Be ye angry and sin not. Let not the sun go down upon your wrath.

Let him that stole steal no more, but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good.

Let no corrupt communication proceed

out of your mouth, but that which is good and edifying.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice. And be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God, for Christ's sake, hath forgiven you.

Children, obey your parents.

Fathers, provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Servants, be obedient to your masters, not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.

Masters, do the same unto them, forbearing threatening, knowing that your Master also is in heaven. Neither is there respect of persons with him.

PHILIPPIANS-COLOSSIANS.

EPISTLE TO THE PHILIPPIANS.

Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

EPISTLE TO THE COLOSSIANS.

Set your affections on things above, not on things on the earth.

Continue in prayer, with thanksgiving. Walk in wisdom towards those that are without.14

14 Without, who are not of the Christian religion.

EPISTLES TO THE THESSALONIANS.

Study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands.

See that none render evil for evil unto any man, but ever follow that which is good.

Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

EPISTLE TO TIMOTHY.

Refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. Godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. Godliness with content

[blocks in formation]

ment is great gain, for we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out of it.

Having then

food and raiment, let us therewith be

content.

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful desires which drown men in destruction and perdition, for the love of money is the root of all evil.

Follow thou after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

Fight the good fight of faith; lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art called. Foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they gender strifes.

Men 15 having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof, from such turn away.

15 Men professing religion in words, but, by their actions, denying that it has any influence over their lives.
