[blocks in formation]

The manna falling round our tent;
Not dearly bought, but freely giv❜n,
The daily food of ev'ry saint.

2 His sacred flesh is meat indeed,
Never were angels feasted so;
On this believers sweetly feed,
And ev'ry grace is made to grow.
3 Our table in the wilderness

Is with this rich provision stor❜d:
Be thankful, oh our souls, and bless
The sovereign bounty of the Lord.

8.7. Consolation of Israel. ANON OME thou long expected Jesus, Born to set thy people free,

COME

From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our rest in thee!
Israel's strength and consolation,
Hope of all the saints thou art;
Dear desire of ev'ry nation,
Joy of ev'ry longing heart.

2 Born thy people to deliver,
Born a child, and yet a king;
Born to reign in us for ever,
Now thy gracious kingdom bring.
By thine own eternal spirit,
Rule in all our hearts alone;
By thine all sufficient merit,
Raise us to thy glorious throne.

C. M. The crowned Lord of all.

DUNCAN

ALL hail the pow'r of Jesu's name!
Let angels prostrate fall;

Bring forth the royal diadem,

And crown him Lord of all.

2 Crown him, ye martyrs of our God,
Who from his altar call;
Extol the stem of Jesse's rod,

And crown him Lord of all.

3 Ye chosen seed of Israel's race,
A remnant weak and small;
Hail him, who saves you by his grace,
And crown him Lord of all.

4 Ye Gentile sinners, ne'er forget,
The wormwood and the gall;
Go, spread your trophies at his feet,
And crown him Lord of all.

5 Let ev'ry kindred ev'ry tribe,
On this terrestrial ball,
To him all majesty ascribe,
And crown him Lord of all.

6 'Oh that, with yonder sacred throng,
We at his feet may fall;

We'll join the everlasting song,
And crown him Lord of all.

C. M. Desire of all Nations.

FAWCETT

INFINITE excellence is thine,
Thou lovely prince of grace!
Thy uncreated beauties shine
With never-fading rays,

2 Sinners, from earth's remotest end,
Come bending at thy feet;

To thee their prayers and vows ascend,
In thee their wishes meet,

3 Thy name, as precious ointment shed,
Delights the church around;
Sweetly the sacred odours spread
Through all Immanuel's ground.

4 Millions of happy spirits live
On thy exhaustless store;
From thee they all their bliss receive,
And still thou givest more.

5 Thou art their triumph and their joy,
They find their all in thee,

Thy glories will their tongues employ
Through all eternity.

BURDER

COME, dear desire of nations come,

And aid our feeble tongues;

While we thy worthy praise attempt
In our unworthy songs.

2 By faith we see, and we adore
Thy grace, thy pow'r, and love;
And sweetly drawn from sense and sin,
To thee our spirits move.

3 Yes Jesus, thou art our desire,
In thee our wishes meet;

Nor can the whole creation's round
Afford a name so sweet.

4 Let carnal minds for pleasure strive,
And after wealth aspire,

Our choice is made, our hearts are fix'd, For Christ is our desire.

5 Pity the nations, dearest Lord,
Where thou art yet unknown;
Be their desire as well as ours,
And make the world thine own.

L. M. Doth all things well. ANON

OW in a song of grateful praise,
To my dear lord, my voice I'll raise ;
With all his saints, I'll join to tell!
My Jesus has done all things well.

2 I spurn'd his grace, I broke his laws,
And yet he undertook my cause,
To save me, though I did rebel;
My Jesus has done all things well.

3 And since my soul has known his love,
What mercies has he made me prove;
Mercies which do all praise excel;
My Jesus has done all things well.

4 When'er my Saviour and my God,
Has on me laid his gentle rod;
I know, in all that me befel,

My Jesus has done all things well.

5 Soon shall I pass the vale of death, And in his arms shall lose my breath;
