He comes, he comes to call
The nations to his bar,
Aud take to glory all:

Who meet for glory are,

Make ready for your free reward;
Go forth with joy to meet the Lord-

The everlasting doors

Shall soon the saints receive,
Above those angel powers
In glorious joy to live;

Far from a world of grief and sin,
With God eternally shut in.

ETERNITY.

C. M. Heaven desired. WATTS.

1 EARTH has engross'd my love too

long,

'Tis time to raise mine eyes,

Upward, dear Father, to thy throne,
And to my native skies.

2 There Seraphs with exalted strains
Circle the throne around;

And move and charm the starry plains
With an immortal sound.

4

Jesus the Lord, their harps employ,—
Jesus, my love, they sing !
Jesus, the name of both our joys,
Sounds sweet from ev'ry string.

Now let me rise, and join their song,
And be an Angel too;

My heart, my hand, my ear, my tongue,
Here's joyful work for you.

I would begin the music here,
And so my soul should rise:

Oh! for some heav'nly notes, to bear
My spirit to the skies!

6. 8. Heaven anticipated SWAINE. WHAT must it be to dwell above,

At God's right hand, where Jesus reigns,

Since the sweet earnest of his love O'erwhelms us on these dreary plains! No heart can think, no tongue explain, What bliss it is with Christ to reign.

When sin no more obstructs our sight, When sorrow pains our hearts no more, Now shall we view the Prince of Light, And all his works of grace explore!

What heights and depths of love divine Will there through endless ages shine!

3 This is the heav'n I long to know;
For this, with patience, I would wait
Till, wean'd from earth, and all below
I mount to my celestial seat,

And wave my palm, and wear my crown
And, with the elders, cast them down

JER

C. M. The Heavenly Jerusalem.
ANON

ERUSALEM! my happy home!
Name ever dear to me!

When shall my labours have an end,
In joy, and peace, and thee.

2 O, when, thou city of my God,
Shall I thy courts ascend,
Where congregations ne'er break up,
And sabbaths have no end.

3 Apostles, martyrs, prophets, there,
Around my Saviour stand;
And soon my friends in Christ below,
Will join the glorious band.

4 Jerusalem! my happy home:

My soul still pants for thee;
When shall my labours have an end,
When I thy joy shall see.

KELLY.

L. M. State of wrath. WHENCE come those loud and

mournful cries,

That speak a mind bereft of joy! They come from him who yonder lies, Where flames devour but can't destroy. 2 One drop of water! one he cries: Unhappy wretch! what woe is thine? "While Justice with a frown replies, "It cannot be, the pris'ners mine!" 3 Beholding such a sight as this, May things eternal be my care; And never may my case be his, Whom sin abandons to despair.

4 I'll keep in view the sinner's friend,
Whose arms I see extended wide:
At sight of him my terrors end;
His merit all my guilt will hide.

C. M. The promised Land.

STENNETT.

ON Jordan's stormy banks I stand,

And cast a wishful eye

To Canaan's fair and happy land,
Where my possessions lie.

2 All o'er those wide extended plains,
Shines one eternal day;
There God the sun for ever reigns,
And scatters night away.

3 No chilling winds or pois'nous breath,
Can reach that healthful shore:
Sickness aud sorrow, fear and death,
Are felt and fear'd no more.

4 Fill'd with delight, my raptur'd soul
Would here no longer stay;

Though Jordan's waves around me roll,
Fearless I'd launch away.
