when no eye sees you, to pray for him, and to commit him to the care and love of God in Jesus Christ. Our first parents, though they were created perfect-and when there was no evil upon the earth, nevertheless sinned when they were tempted how much more, in a state like that which now exists, will your child be exposed to sin when he is tempted. Watch over him, love him, and pray for him. Put no unnatural restraints upon his mind. Crush not his young heart by errors respecting God's character and lead him to love God in all his works, in all his mercies, and blessings, and as he is revealed to us by Jesus Christ. Study to make your home the dwelling place of love, the home of piety, and the home of peace. We unite with you most heartily in dedicating this child to our heavenly Father. You declare this day your faith in God's wisdom, mercy, and providence in relation to your child by this solemn act of dedication. And as water is an emblem of purity, we use it in this service as expressive of our conviction of the necessity and blessedness of purity of heart and life. You can desire no greater earthly blessing for your child, than as he grows in stature, he may also grow in favour with God and man.

What is this child's name?

I baptize thee into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit

A Prayer for the Cuid.

OST merciful God and Father, accept and bless this child we have now dedicated to thee. Should he continue to live, may his life be marked from his earliest days by goodness, truthfulness, love, and kindness. By thy holy spirit influence and direct him in youth, in his riper years, and to the end of his days. May he become a sincere and faithful disciple of thy Son, following him in all things instructed by his lessons: comforted by his wise counsels and promises and ever have the consolation of a good hope of Eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for the Parents.

and

THOU, who art the God of all the families of the earth, bless these thy servants, the parents of this child we have now dedicated to thee. May they continue to be mutually happy with one another. May they walk before thee in thy commandments, with all truthful obedience, simplicity, and love. Give them wisdom and grace to train up this child in the way that he should go may he prove to them, and to their families, the source of much peace and happiness, comfort and usefulness; and in their old age may he be to them a stay and a staff, and may they then bless thee for his birth, his life, and all the happiness thou hast conferred upon them through giving them this child. We ask these blessings, O God, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Into this state no one should enter unadvisedly, or lightly, but discreetly and soberly in the fear of God, and for the mutual society, help, and comfort, that the one ought to have of the other, both in prosperity and adversity. Therefore, if any one can show any just cause why these persons may not be lawfully joined together, let him now speak, or for ever after hold his peace.

The Minister shall then say to the persons about to be
Married:

REQUIRE and charge you both, as ye will answer at the Day of Judgment, when the secrets of all hearts shall be disclosed, that if either of you know any impediment why ye may not be lawfully joined together in matrimony, ye do now declare it. For be ye well assured that so many as are coupled together otherwise than God's Word doth allow, are not joined together in lawful matrimony.

The man shall answer:

I will.

The Maister shall then say to the woman:

ILT thou have this man to thy wedded husband, to live together after God's ordinance, in the holy estate of matrimony? Wilt thou obey him and serve him, love, honour, and keep him, in sickness and in health and, forsaking all other, keep thee only unto him so long as ye both shall live?
