CHARLES BROWN, 33°.

Bro.. CHARLES BROWN died at his home in Cincinnati on November 6th, 1894. BRO.. BROWN was at the time of his death Grand Treasurer of the Grand Lodge of the State of Ohio. He received the degrees of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, from the fourth to the sixteenth, inclusive, in Columbus, Ohio, December 17th, 1852. The remaining degrees of the Rite, seventeenth to thirty-second, he received in Cincinnati at the hands of the late Bros.. WILLIAM H. HUBBARD and K. H. VAN RENSSELAER, December 29th, 1853.

He was one of the original seven founders of the Rite in the city of Cincinnati in 1853. He held many offices in the Rite, was always an active, interested and enthusiastic Scottish Rite Mason. He was created a Sovereign Grand Inspector-General, thirty-third degree, and made an Honorary Member of the Supreme Council at its Session in Boston, May, 1865; he was made an Active Member in the Supreme Council, September 22d, 1881; he resigned his active membership in 1894, and was made an Emeritus Member, a position he held at the time of his death. He was one of the most popular Masons in Ohio. Requiescat in pace.
