deavours to extend the knowledge of thy truth, and to promote the love and practice of thy holy commandments, may be favourably received, and become successful. May they do honour to thy truth, in their public services, and in their lives; and wilt thou direct thy servants in the way of righteousness to their highest happiness. Amen.
FOR ALL CHRISTIAN
WE beseech thee, O God of love and mercy, to send down thy blessing upon all who profess the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ; suffer not their divisions to injure the cause of truth and liberty; graciously assist those who love thy holy name, in all their sincere endeavours to reform the abuses which have entered into thy church, and to promote the peace and union of Christians. Give them just sentiments of the nature and tendency of our holy religion; fill their hearts with love to thee, and to each other. May they approve themselves
the faithful disciples of Jesus, and become the instruments of diffusing virtue and happiness in the world. Amen.
FOR THE AFFLICTED.
O GOD of mercy, we humbly implore thy favourable regard for all our brethren in affliction; may thy wisdom be their direction, thy power their support, and thy goodness their confidence; and by a patient behaviour under their afflictions, and a thankful acknowledgment of all thy mercies, may they be prepared for unmixed happiness in a future and better world. Amen.
A CONCLUDING PRAYER.
MERCIFULLY regard, O heavenly Father, these our petitions for ourselves and for others, and grant that by thus expressing the desires of our hearts before thee, we may be more impressed with reverence for thee, charity for all mankind, and concern for our religious improvement; pardon what thou hast seen amiss in us at this time; teach us the right
use of all our enjoyments; lead us to a wise and careful improvement of all thy mercies, and finally advance us to thy glorious and everlasting kingdom, which thou hast promised by Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose words we conclude our prayers;
OUR Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.
NOW unto him who is able to do for us exceeding abundantly, above all that we can ask or think, be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
END OF THIRD SERVICE.
ALMIGHTY and ever blessed God, source of all being, and fountain of all good; we, thy children, created by thee, continually preserved by thee, and indebted to thee for all that we possess and all that we enjoy, would come before thee this morning, to express our sense of thy goodness to us, to acknowledge our dependence upon thee, to adore thy greatness, and commend ourselves to thy care.
Glory be to thy name that thou hast made us capable of holding communion with thee, the Father of our spirits, and of receiving the revelations of thy word and will. Glory be to thy name for the heavenly doctrines, precepts, and promises of the gospel of thy Son.
We make it our earnest prayer to thee, that our hearts may be touched by its holy influences, that our characters may be formed by its spirit, that our lives may be governed by its laws. O guide us, we beseech thee, in the ways of its truth to the everlasting home which it promises to the righteous.
Let our attendance this day on thy public worship, and the services and instructions of thy house, conduce to our spiritual improvement and our eternal good. Let us enter thy gates with thanksgiving, and thy courts with praise, and take with us our best affections and resolutions to the temple of the Lord. Suffer not our minds to be distracted, nor our devotions to languish.. Let not our thoughts, which ought to be engaged
