ADMINISTRATION.

OSCAR DOWLING, M. D., PRESIDENT OF BOARD AND

The A. M. A.
in New Orleans.

EXECUTIVE OFFICER.

The seventy-fifth annual session of the American Medical Association will be held in New Orleans this year from April 26-30th. This is the fourth time that the Association has held its meeting here, the previous ones being in 1869, 1885, and again in 1903.

The session in 1920 will be opened by the president, Dr. Alexander Lambert, and the new president, Dr. W. C. Braisted, Surgeon General of the Navy, will replace Dr. Lambert at the opening meeting.

Dr. James C. McLester will preside as chairman of the Section on the Practice of Medicine, and Dr. Dean D. Lewis over that on Surgery. Dr. Reuben Peterson is the presiding officer of the Obstetrics and Gynecological Section, Dr. Allen Greenwood of Boston of the Section of Ophthalmology, Dr. J. C. Beck of the Laryngology, Otology and Rhinology Section, Dr. F. B. Talbot of the Section on Children's Diseases. Well known men will direct the meetings of the numerous other sections.

It is expected that there will be an attendance of approximately 5000, and provision has been made in anticipation. Even with the congested conditions in New Orleans at the present time, the Local Committee has so far been successful in assuring accommodation for the medical guests. A large number will find room and board in private homes, which will be in accordance with the reputation of the southland for hospitality. The hotels, which at the present time are well filled, will be able to accommodate a large number.

Every moment of available time is provided for in the program. When the scientific meetings are not in session, social amusements are planned, which will give the attending members a lasting remembrance of New Orleans, its people and its environment.

The season of the year is peculiarly favorable. At this period the temperature is likely to be very agreeable, neither too hot nor too cold. The guests can confidently look forward to a pleasant and profitable outing under the Southern skies.
