Every one knows that if the majority of the Legislature are opposed to slavery, there are a multitude of ways in which the slaveholder may be harassed and kept out by hostile legislation, and by a failure to provide remedies for the protection of his rights. Practically, the institution can only be introduced and sustained where the majority are willing to tolerate it...
Էջ 10 - This new doctrine, on the qpntrary, opens the door of the temple, invites an abolition Congress to the very hearthstone of the slaveholder's domestic circle, and allows it to strike its deadly blows at him in his daily and hourly walks.
