The pay of Chargés d'Affaires is $4,500 per annum; of Secretaries of Legation, $2,000; of Ministers Resident, $6,000. The United States are represented by Ministers Plenipotentiary at the courts of Great Britain, France, Russia, Prussia, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, and Chili; and by Chargés d'Affaires at the courts of most of the other foreign powers with which this country is much connected by commercial intercourse. 1.
