Nulla licet noftrum ditârit gratia regum,

Nulla licet decorent nomina clara genus,

Nos tamen innocuos illuftrat gloria vera ;

Purâ luce micat, nam bonitate micat.

III.

Nomina, dum virtus nobis fit fola voluptas,

Læta per ora virûm fuavior aura feret;

Nos quoque laudabunt, humilis miracula vitæ,

Magnates, omnis nefcius, unde probat.

IV.

What though from fortune's lavifh bounty

No mighty treasures we poffefs,

We'll find within our pittance plenty,

And be content without excess.

V.

Still fhall each returning season

Sufficient for our wishes give;

For we will live a life of reafon,

And that's the only life to live.

VI.

Thro' youth and age, in love excelling,
We'll hand in hand together tread;

Sweet-fmiling peace fhall crown our dwelling,

And babes, sweet smiling babes, our bed.

How fhould I love the pretty creatures,

While round my knees they fondly clung;

I.

the forrows of a poor old man,

Whofe trembling limbs have borne him to your

Whofe days are dwindled to the shortest span; [door,

Oh! give relief, and heav'n will bless your ftore.

These tatter'd cloaths my poverty bespeak,

These hoary locks proclaim my lengthen'd years;

And

Dum vultus referunt maternos ora tenella,

Maternas voces balbaque lingua refert.

Et noftræ quando venit invidiofa vetuftas
Sortis, deproperans demere cuncta bona,
Te pulcram agnofcet natas petitura juventus,
