Further reviews of AID food, housing, and population programs Further reviews of AID operating expenses Review of AID contracting practices INTRODUCTION OBSERVATIONS ON THE LENDING AND FINANCIAL At the request of the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Foreign Operations, Senate Appropriations Committee, we have made a limited review of the lending and financial policies of the three major international development banks--the World Bank (excluding the International Finance Corporation), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). As requested, we pay particular attention to the likelihood of future demands on callable capital subscribed to these institutions. Table 1 shows total and U.S. subscriptions to the international development banks. |
