Transportation of volunteers: To transport on the steamer Ne Plus Ultra, from Alton, Illinois, to New Orleans, La., 3 companies 6th' regiment Illinois volunteers, with their arms, baggage, &c., for the sum of $15 for each officer, and $3 for each of the others. Purchase of horses: To furnish and deliver at Jefferson barracks, Mo., one thousand dragoon horses, in lots of not less than one hundred, the whole delivery to be completed on or before the 15th of June, 1847. The horses contracted for under this agreement shall not be less than four nor more than eight years old, and not less than fif teen nor more than sixteen hands high, under the standard; to be free from any defects, diseases, or imperfections of any kind whatso- ever. The horses are to be inspected by such persons as may be ap pointed by the officer of the quartermaster's department to whom they may be delivered; and each horse delivered and accepted, ac- cording to this agreement, is to cost the United States $37 50; being in full for all charges, expenses, risks, or claims whatsoever. In case of failure on the part of the said Miner to deliver the horses in compliance with the terms of this contract, then the said Clark, or other agent of the government, shall have full power to purchase the
horses in the open market; and the said Miner agrees to forfeit to the United States 50 per cent, on the amount of said failure, in eur- rent funds of the United States.
Transportation of troops. To transport from Terre Haute, Ind., to Newport, Ky., a detachment of United States troops, with their bag- gage and equipage, for the sum of $9 for the officer and $6 50 each for the others.

Purchase of a schooner: Purchase of the schooner Colonel Yell, with all her appurtenances, &c., the sum of $9,850.
Building a side-paddle wheel steamer: To build for the United States a side-paddle wheel steamer, to be 145 feet length of keel, 23 feet beam, and 9 feet hold; and to be furnished with a low pressure en- gine, and a boiler of sufficient power to propel it. The United States to pay, as full compensation, the sum of $28,900.
Charter Charter of the barque Nancy W. Stevens, of the burden of 350 tons, to transport from New York harbor to Vera Cruz a de- tachment of United States troops, consisting of 7 commissioned offi- cers and 160 non-commissioned officers and privates. Demurrage $75 per day. The United States to pay, as full compensation, the sum of $2,245. Pilotage, and all port charges, at the expense of the vessel. Penalty $5,000.
Charter Charter of the ship Huntress, to transport from the harbor of New York to Monterey, California, such goods, wares and merchandise, the property of the United States, as it may be necessary to send in her; also a detachment of United States recruits, for the sum of $10,000. Charter Charter of the brigantine Adelaide, to transport from Nassau, N. P., to Fort Moultrie, S. C., a battalion of the 1st and 3d regiments United States artillery, recently wrecked in the ship Empire, bound from New York to Vera Cruz, consisting of 4 officers and 140 non-commissioned. officers and privates, with their arms, baggage, and provisions, for the sum of $1,400.
