HIS Royal Highness The Prince has been pleased to appoint Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Frederick Ponsonby, Grenadier Guards, to be Equerry to His Royal Highness.

Whitehall, January 13, 1857.

The Queen has been pleased to grant unto Arthur John Pack, Esquire, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, LieutenantColonel in Her Majesty's Army, and AssistantQuartermaster-General to the Army in the Cork District, Her royal licence and authority that he and his issue may take and henceforth use the surname of Reynell, in addition to and before that of Pack.

And to command that the said royal concession and declaration be registered in Her Majesty's College of Arms, otherwise to be void and of DoDe effect.

By virtue of an Act, passed in the twentyfourth year of the reign of His Majesty

King George the Third, intituled "An Act to.. "repeal so much of two Acts made in the "tenth and fifteenth years of the reign of His "present Majesty, as authorizes the Speaker "of the House of Commons to issue his warrant "to the Clerk of the Crown for making out writs "for the election of Members to serve in Par "liament, in the manner therein mentioned, and "for substituting other provisions for the like "purposes:"

I do hereby give notice, that it hath been cer tified to me in writing, under the hands of tw Members serving in this present Parliament, tha the Honourable Charles Stewart Hardinge, late Member serving in this present Parliament for the borough of Downpatrick, is become a Peer of the United Kingdom, and that a writ of summon hath been issued to him, under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom, to summon him to Par liament; and that I shall issue my warrant to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, in Ireland, to make out a new writ for the electing of a Member to serve in this present Parliament for the said borough of Downpatrick, at the end of fourteen days after the insertion of this notice in the London Gazette.

In pursuance of an Act passed in the fortieth year of the reign of His Majesty King George the Third, entitled "An Act to regulate the mode by "which the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and

"the Commons, to serve in the Parliament of the United Kingdom, on the part of Ireland, shall be "summoned and returned to the said Parliament," I do hereby give notice, that the Right Honourable Thomas, Viscount De Vesci, has been chosen, by a majority of votes, to be the Peer to sit in the House of Lords of the United Kingdom, in the room of the late Cornwallis, Viscount Hawarden, deceased.
