Total Definite Appropriations..$41,868,299 In addition to the above, a large number 277,700 of appropriations were made, the respective amounts of which are indefinite; and the Annual Post Office Appropriation Bill, from ten to fifteen millions, was lost in consequence of 867,508 a disagreement between the two Houses of 250,000 Congress, growing out of an amendment 180,000 adopted by the Senate to materially increase 125,000 the rates of postage.
