A COMPLETE GRAMMATICAL COURSE OF THE GERMAN LANGUAGE. BY T. MATTHAY, Professor of German at Wimbledon School, and other Military Colleges as well as at Ladies' Schools. PREFACE. THE favourable reception which my Grammar has met with, and the desire my pupils have expressed to have it illustrated by corresponding exercises, have encouraged me to endeavour to lay down in this Complete Grammatical Course a series of simple, easy and comprehensive rules and lessons. These I have endeavoured to express as shortly and concisely as possible, as their length and difficulty in similar works of larger proportions often perplex and weary the pupil. The vocabularies and rules are intended to be learned by heart, I have therefore made them as clear and short as possible. The exercises by which the rules are illustrated, are followed by Recapitulatory Exercises, and by Exercises containing mistakes for the pupil to correct, in order to accustom him to think for himself-an object which is so frequently neglected. 40, MANOR STREET, CLAPHAM.
