WAY! let nought to love displeasing,

My Winifreda, move your care;

Let nought delay the heavenly bleffing,

Nor fqueamish pride, nor gloomy fear.

II.

What tho' no grants of royal donors,

With pompous titles, grace our blood;

We'll shine in more fubftantial honours,

And, to be noble, we'll be good.

III.

Our name, while virtue thus we tender,

Will sweetly found where-e'er 'tis spoke ; And all the great ones, they fhall wonder,

How they respect fuch little folk.

INC procùl, hìnc abfit, quicquid perturbet amo

Sollicitet mentem nil, Winifreda, tuam ; [rem,

Nil, nil, quod poffis, tardet coeleftia dona;

Si quid faftus obeft, exue, five metus.

Læta per ora virûm fuavior aura feret;

Nos quoque laudabunt, humilis miracula vitæ,

For we will live a life of reafon,

And that's the only life to live.

VI.

Thro' youth and age, in love excelling,
We'll hand in hand together tread;

Sweet-finiling peace fhall crown our dwelling,

And babes, fweet fimiling babes, our bed.

VII.

How fhould I love the pretty crcatures,

While round my knees they fondly clung;

Quanquam non faveat nobis fortuna benigna,

Et parcâ dederit munera parva manu;

Anguftos intra fines viventibus adfit

Mens contenta domi, quod fatis, illa dabit.

Nam vitæ femper ratio reget æqua tenorem.
Utque decet, ratio vivere fola docet.

Ut primis, fic dum virtus illuxerit annis

Supremis, placidâ pace petemus iter;

Nam menfæ confors, aderit concordia nobis,
Atque tori, foboles dulcia mille tuens.

To hear them lifp their mother's tongue.

And when with envy time tranfported,
Shall think to rob us of our joys,

You'll in your girls again be courted,
And I'll go a wooing in my boys.
