FREE CRAYON PORTRAITS FRAMES

To all our Subscribers for 1892.

We, the publishers of "North American Homes," in order to increase the circulation of our journal throughout the United States and Canada, will spend this year over one hundred thousand dollars among our new subscribers in the form of an artistic Crayon Portrait and a handsome frame (as per cut below), to be made free of charge for every new subscriber to "North American Homes." Our family journal is a monthly publication consisting of 16 pages, filled with the best literature of the day, by some of the best authors, and is worthy of the great expense we are doing for it. Eight years ago the New York World had only about 15,000 daily circulation; to-day it has over 300,000. This was obtained by judicious advertisement and a lavish expenditure of money. What the proprietor of the N. Y. World has accomplished we feel confident of doing ourselves. We have a large capital to draw upon, and the handsome premium we are giving you will certainly give us the largest circulation of any paper in the world. The money we are spending now among our subscribers will soon come back to us in increased circulation and advertisements. The Crayon Portrait we will have made for you will be executed by the largest association of artists in this city. Their work is among the finest made, and we guarantee you an artistic Portrait and a perfect likeness to the original. There is nothing more useful as well as ornamental than a handsome framed Crayon Portrait of yourself or any member of your family; therefore this is a chance in a lifetime to get one already framed and ready to hang in your parlor absolutely free of charge.

PRESS NOTICES

It goes still further to prove the correctness of the old saying that truth is stranger than fiction. Here is a book abounding in dramatic incident and highly wrought situations, of intense interest throuhout, and of quality which far outweighs that of the average summer novel, yet which is withal so bright, piquant and alive with action that the story never lags. The author has certainly made a most artistic use of the materials at band.-New York Budget.

A novel highly romantic in character and somewhat unusual in its conception. The scene is laid in Southeastern Europe, and the author shows great familarity with the manners and customs of people who escape the notice of ordinary writers. There is a tone of realism running through the book which conveys the impression that there is quite as much fact as fiction in it, in spite of its romantic character.-San Francisco Chronicle.

In these days when sensationalism is all the go a novel like "Imperia" proves a refreshing change. Here is a pretty story told in a charming manner. The plot is a good one, while all the characters stand out in bold relief. It is one of those fascinating books that you can enjoy reading under a shady tree on a summer day and then re-read it again with the same sweet pleasure before a cozy fire on a cold wintry night.-The Cincinnati Enquirer.

The plot is a somewhat intricate one and the canvas is at times a little too crowded, but Mme. Hensel has developed it with considerable dramatic skill, and into its web of passion and adventure she has deftly woven a rich embroidery of color, for which the picturesque and romantic accessories of the life and the localities she has depicted furnish ample material.-The New York Home Journal.
