SIR: In relation to the resolution of the House of Representatives, of the 31st ultimo, directing the Secretary of War to lay before the House the survey of a route for a canal between Buzzard's Bay and Barnstable Bay, I have the honor to state, that the survey referred to, and the drawings connected with it, have been made, but have not yet been transmitted to the Department, though they are daily expected; and that they will be laid before the House of Representatives as soon as received, in compliance with the resolution.
