THE Queen has been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed under the Great Seal, granting the dignity of a Baronet of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, unto Alexander Hutchinson Lawrence, Esq., of the Bengal Civil Service (eldest son of the late Sir Henry Montgomery Lawrence, K.C.B.), and to the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten, with remainder, in default of such issue, to Henry Waldemar Lawrence, Esq. (Brother of the said Alexander Hutchinson Lawrence), and the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten.

The Right Honourable the Lords of the Committee of Privy Council for Trade and Plantations have received, through the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, a copy of a Decree of the Sicilian Government, by which the reduction of the import duties upon Sugar and Coffee, recently granted by that Government to Spain, is extended to all other nations.
