There have been 36 dramatic versions of the story of
Antony & Cleopatra. It was the theme of the first
English drama written by a woman, the sister of Sir
Philip Sidney.

1779. Death of David Garrick which Samuel Johnson characterized as "that stroke of death which has eclipsed the gaiety of nations.”

More theatres and actor's clubs have been named for David Garrick than for all other actors of the English stage. He is buried at the foot of Shakespeare's monument in Westminster Abbey.

Hamlet speaks more lines than any other character in the
Plays.

The Merchant of Venice is the best known of Shakespeare's Comedies.
