To resolution of the House of the 3d of March last, transmitting report from the Department of State regarding the present condition of Mexico.

APRIL 15, 1862.—Referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and ordered to be printed.

To the House of Representatives:

In compliance with the resolution of the House of Representatives of the 3d ultimo, requesting information in regard to the present condition of Mexico, I transmit a report from the Secretary of State and the documents by which it was accompanied.

The Secretary of State, to whom was referred the resolution of the House of Representatives of the 3d ultimo, requesting the President, "if not inconsistent with the public interest, to communicate to this house any correspondence or other information in his possession relative to the present condition of Mexico, and especially in relation to the alleged design of the allied powers now invading that country to establish a monarchy there," has the honor to lay before the President the papers containing the information desired as specified in the subjoined list.
