Intercessory Prayer.

To thee, O God, our righteous Governor, we commend our native country. Bless our Sovereign, Queen VICTORIA. Endue her with a wise and understanding heart. Prosper her just undertakings; and so keep her in thy faith and obedience, that when she shall no more wear an earthly diadem, she may receive a crown of glory that fadeth not. May the Prince Consort and all the Royal family be faithful in discharging the duties of their high stations, and rejoice in thy favour here and for ever.

[*We beseech thee to bless the high Court of Parliament. May its members be men fearing thee and hating covetousness. Lead them wisely to discern and steadily to pursue the true honour and happiness of these kingdoms.]

May the Judges and all Magistrates dispense justice with impartiality, and exert their influence to promote righteousness. May all the ministers of religion recom

mend thy truth in their public services; adorn it in their lives; and be directed by conscience in the way of righteousness to the highest influence of their holy vocation. Father of mercies, bless all men over all the world, under every religious dispensation. Enlighten them by thy spirit and instruct them by thy providences, that they may at length be prepared to receive the truth as it is in Jesus. Amen.

Concluding Prayer.

GOD, the author of all good, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we humbly offer to thy gracious acceptance these our praises and prayers in his name. We rejoice that thou hast exalted him to thy right hand, to be a Prince and a Saviour; and hast promised by him to bestow immortal life on all thy faithful servants. We desire to become his disciples in deed and in truth; and in his words we conclude our present requests Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that

:

trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Benediction.

NOW unto Him that is able to keep us from falling, and to present us faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and for ever.

Amen.

SIXTH SERVICE.

The People standing.

AND this is the confidence that we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us. 1 John, v. 14.

For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy, I dwell in the high and holy place; with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isaiah, lvii. 15.

Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens. Lamentations, iii. 40, 41.

Exhortation.

YE that do truly and earnestly repent you of your sins, and are in love and charity with all mankind, and desire to lead a new life, following the commandments of God, and walking from henceforth in his holy ways; draw nigh with your hearts unto the throne of heavenly grace, and make your humble confession to Almighty God.

¶ General Confession; the People standing or kneeling.

ALMIGHTY God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Judge

of all men; we acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, which we, from time to time, most grievously have committed, in thought, word, and deed, against thy divine Majesty. We do earnestly repent; we are heartily sorry for these our misdoings. The remembrance of them is grievous unto The burden of them is too heavy for us. Have mercy upon us, O most gracious Father for thy mercies' sake in Jesus Christ our Lord, forgive us all that is past and grant that we may ever hereafter serve and

us.
