Matthew xii. 25, 26. and 31, 32.-And Jesus knew their
thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided
against itself is brought to desolation ; and every city
or house divided against itself shall not stand: and if
Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself ;
how shall then his kingdom stand?
Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and
blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men : but the blas-
phemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven
unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against
the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whoso-
ever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be
forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world
to come.
Matthew xvii. 24–27.-And when they were come to
Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to
Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute ?
He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house,
Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou,
Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take
custom or tribute ? of their own children, or of stran-
gers ? Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus
saith unto him, Then are the children free. Notwith-
standing, lest we should offend them, go thou to the
sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first
cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth,
thou shalt find a piece of money :
