1 Kings xiv. 22. Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins.
Ver. 23. They built him high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.
Ver. 25. And it came to pass that Shishak, king of Egypt, came gainst Jerusalem.
Ver. 26. And he took away the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king's house, he took away all the shields of gold, which Solomon had made.
2 Kings xvii. 16. They made molten images, even two calves and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and worshiped Baal.
Ver. 17. They caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments.
Ver. 18. Therefore the Lord was angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight. Ver. 20.

CXLIX. Images, no representation of God. Deut. iv. 12. The Lord spake unto you out of the midst of the fire, ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no manner of similitude.
Ver. 15. Take therefore heed unto yourselves,
Ver. 16. Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven im. age, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female. Ver. 17, 18, 19.

Acts xvii. 29. We ought not to think that the God-head is like unto gold or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.

CL. They were commanded to be broken. Lev. vii. 25. Ye shall de. stroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.

CLIV. Threats against idols and idolators. Isa. ii. 8. Their land is full of idols, they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made.
Ver. 9. The mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself, therefore forgive them not. Ch. xxvii. 11.
Ver. 18. The idols he shall utterly abolish.
Ver. 20. In that day shall a man cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made, each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats.

CLVI. God's judgments upon idolaters. Ps. cvi. 25. They learned the works of the heathen. Ver. 36. And served their idols.
Ver. 40. Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people. See Isa. ii. 8, 9. See to ver. 22.
Isa. Ivii. 4. Are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood.

xx. 7. Then said I, defile not yourselves with idols, but they re. belled against me.

xxxiii. 25. Thus saith the Lord, ye lift up your eyes unto your idols, and shall ye possess the land ? See also, ver. 27, 28.
xxxvi. 18. I poured out my fury upon them because of their idols. xliv. 10. Israel went astray from me aster their idols. Ver. 12. Therefore have I lift up mine hand against them.
Hos. iv. 17. Ephraim is joined to idols, let him alone. In the following places, and most of those quoted from Ezek. idola.
try is reproved and threatened, under the name of whoredom, filthiness and abomination, viz. Hos. i. 2.-4. 2.-iv. 10, 13.-V. 3.

Sorcerers. Mal. iii. 5. I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers.
Rev. xxi. 8. Sorcerers shall have their portion in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone.

CLVIII. Inchanters. Lev. xix. 26. Ye shall not use enchantments, nor observe times.

CLIX. Soothsayers. Isa. ii. 6. Thou hast forsaken thy people, the house of Jacob, because they are replenished from the east, and are sooth-sayers like the Philistines, and please themselves in the children of strangers.

CLXI. Witches. Exod. xxii. 18. Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
Deut. xviii. 10. There shall not be found among you, one that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an inchanter, or a witch.
Ver. 11, 12. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer, for all these things are an abomination to the Lord. See instances. Balaam. Numb. xxiv. 1. CLXII. Wizards. Lev. xix. 31. Regard not them that have fami, liar spirits, neither seek after wizards to be defiled with them.
