THE EASTERN LITURGY OF THE HOLY CATHOLIC, APOSTOLIC, AND ORTHODOX CHURCH, SIMPLIFIED, AND ADAPTED FOR USE IN THE WEST. CONTAINING FORMS DEEMED VALID AND ORTHODOX BY ALL CHURCHES JULIUS, by the Grace of God, Bishop of Iona, Servant of the Servants of God. To the Faithful of Christ, Salvation and Our Apostolic Blessing. In the beginning of this year, while belonging to the Order of Presbyters, We published a Liturgy, hoping thereby to promote the union of Christendom. Having since that time visited the Eastern Church, and been raised to the Episcopate, We now, by Our authority, sanction this edition, in which a few words have been modified by the advice of some of Our Most Blessed and Sacred Brethren, the Patriarchs and Bishops of the East. We shall be ready to give Holy Orders to pious and learned men who, being duly elected, will declare themselves willing to conform to this Liturgy. Given in London, on the twentieth day of September, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, being the first year of Our Episcopate. |
