With choicest blessings from the Lord,
Thy vineyard shall abound;
Thy children like the olive trees
Shall grow in love around.

Thou shalt thy children's children see
In piety increase;

And in the paths of grace acquire
Prosperity and peace.

Thus art thou blest, that fearest God,
And he shall let thee see

The new Jerusalem above

And her felicity.

N. V. PSALM 130.

S. M.

SHOULD God severely judge,
Who can the trial bear!
But he forgives, lest man despond,
And perish in despair.

My soul with patience waits

For thee, the living Lord:

My hopes are on thy promise built,
Thy never-failing word.

My longing eyes look out

For thine enliv’ning ray,

More earnest than the morning watch To spy the dawning day.

His plenteous streams to us

Supplies in want convey;

A healing spring,-a spring to cleanse, And wash our guilt away.

N. V. PSALM 132. C. M.

LET us, like David, Lord, a place
In thy remembrance find;
Let all the sorrows we endure
Be ever in thy mind.

Remember, Lord, the solemn oath
To thee in youth we swore;
How to the mighty God we vowed
We ever would adore!

Arise, O Lord, and now possess
Thy willing place of rest;
May contrite hearts, as once thine ark,
Be with thy presence blest.

O with due rev'rence let us now
To his abode repair;

And, prostrate at his mercy-seat,
Pour out our humble prayer.

PSALM 133 & 134.

O. V.

O WHAT a happy thing,

S. M.

And joyful too to see,

Brethren to dwell together in
Friendship and unity.

Behold, and have regard,

Ye servants of the Lord,
And in his house by night or day

Praise him with one accord.

Lift up your hands in love

Unto his holy place;

In love give God his praises due ;

His benefits embrace.

For why? the Lord our God,

Who heav'n and earth did frame, Doth Sion bless, and will preserve For evermore the same.

o. v. PSALM 136. L. M. PRAISE ye the Lord, for he is good, For his mercy endureth for ever! Give praise unto the God of gods, For his mercy endureth for ever! Who by his wisdom made the heavens, For his mercy endureth for ever! Who on the waters stretched the earth, For his mercy endureth for ever! Rememb'ring us in low estate, For his mercy endureth for ever! He from sin's bondage rescued us, For his mercy endureth for ever! ye the Lord of heav'n above, For his mercy endureth for ever! Give thanks unto the Lord of lords, For his mercy endureth for ever!

Praise

N. V.

Second Version.

To God, the Mighty Lord,

Your joyful thanks repeat;

To him due praise afford,

As good as he is great:

C. M.

For God does prove our constant friend, His boundless love shall never end.

He formed the heav'ns above

By his Almighty hand,

And made the rising ground

Above the waters stand:

For God does prove our constant friend,
His boundless love shall never end.
He in our depths of woe

On us with favour thought,

And from our soul's worst foe
In peace and safety brought:

For God does prove our constant friend,
His boundless love shall never end.

PSALM 137. L. M.
WHEN Jacob's sons, their limbs to rest,
Sat down by proud Euphrates' stream,
They wept, with sorrowing thoughts opprest,
And Sion was their mournful theme.
Their harps, which, when in joy they sung,
Were wont their tuneful parts to bear,
With silent strings neglected hung
On willows that were drooping there.
Nor can we tune our hearts to sing,
Or touch the harp with willing hands
In hymns of joy to God our King,
While we are slaves in Satan's lands.

N. V. PSALM 138. c. M.
WITH my whole heart, my God and King,
Thy praise I will proclaim;
Before the world with joy I'll sing,
And bless thy holy name.

Thou graciously inclin'dst thine ear,

When I to thee did cry,

And, when my soul was pressed with fear,
Didst inward strength supply.

Tho' I with troubles was opprest,
Thou didst those ills disarm,
Relieve my soul, when most distrest,
And keep me safe from harm.
The Lord, whose mercies ever last,
Shall still advance my state,
And, mindful of his favours past,
Shall his own work complete.

PSALM 139. L. M.

THOU, Lord, by strictest search hast known
My rising up, and lying down;

Thine eye my secret thoughts surveys,
My public haunts, and private ways.
Surrounded by thy power I stand,
On every side I find thy hand;
O skill for human reach too high!
God's works, too bright for mortal eye!

Search me, O God, my thoughts and heart,
If mischief lurks in any part:

Correct me, where I go astray,
And guide me in thy perfect way.

N. V. Second Part. L. M.
LORD, could I so ungrateful be,
To think of once deserting thee?
O where could I thy influence shun,
Or whither from thy presence run?
If up to heav'n I take my flight,
'Tis there thou dwell'st, enthroned in light;
Or dive to death's infernal plains,
'Tis there Almighty vengeance reigns!
