THE CHRISTIAN SOLDIER. "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."-Eph. vi. 11. GIRD thine armour around thee, Thou saint of the Lord, On thine arm bear the buckler, Thy path on each side, No harm shall betide. Though Satan may meet thee The sword of the Spirit Shall chase him away. D The darts of the wicked, May fly all around; But quenched by thy shield, They shall fall to the ground. Then Christian, march forward, "Be strong in the Lord," Thy glory is certain, And sure thy reward. Thy Saviour has triumphed, And conquered thy foes, And with Jesus for ever, Thy soul shall repose. TO A CHRISTIAN BROTHER IN THE WILDS OF "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?-Psalm xxvii. 1. CHRISTIAN pilgrim, far away, In this dreary world below; Fasted in the wilderness. Proved the subtle tempter's power, In that lonely, trying hour, And his loving spirit feels, For the gloom that o'er thee steals, Thou must pass the weary day, Sealed thee by His Spirit's power, SALVATION. "Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins, in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever, Amen."-Rev. i. 5, 6. I SING His praise who ransomed me, From Christ and Zion far away, He fought my fight, and won the crown, From death and hell He rescued me. |
