An engrossed bill entitled, "An act supplementary to an act entitled an act concerning the naval establishment,'" was read the third time and passed.

Ordered, That the title be as aforesaid, and that the Clerk carry the said bill to the Senate and ask their concurrence therein.

The House resumed the consideration of the bill to set apart and pledge as a permanent fund for internal improvement, the bonus of the National Bank, and the United States share of its dividends. And the question recurred on the motion made yesterday by Mr. King, and depending at the time of a journment, to postpone the said bill and the amendments thereto depending, indefinitely,

The said amendment proposed by Mr. Pickering, was then agreed to by the House. And,

Mr. Kilbourn moved further to amend the said bill, by adding thereto the following section:

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That when it shall be the wish of any State, that a part of its share in the funds et apart and appropriated by this act, shall be applied to

the purposes intended by this act within the limits of any other State or Stites; and shall manifest the same to Con. gress by a resolution of the legislature thereof, it may and shall be lawful for Congress to provide for and direct the ap plication of such sum, in such manner as they shall think proper, to the specific purposes set forth in such resolution, and none other.

And on the question to agree to this section. It was determined in the negative. Ordered, That the said bill be engrossed as amended, and read a third time to-morrow. And then the House adjourned.

Mr. Atherton presented a petition of sundry inhabitants of the town of Hampton, in New-Hampshire, praying that the mails may not be opened or transported on Sundays, which was referred to the committee appointed on a similar petition from sundry inhabitants of Southampton, in Massachu

setts.

Mr. Hale presented a petition from sundry ship owners and others, inhabitants of Portsmouth, in New-Hampshire, to the same effect with the petition of sundry ship owners residing in the city of New-York, presented yesterday.

Ordered, That the said petitions be referred to the committee on the Post-Office and Post-Roads. Mr. Milnor presented a petition of sundry manufacturers of iron in Pennsylvania, praying that additional duties may be imposed on that article imported into the United States.

Mr. McKee presented a petition of William Morton and John S. Snead, merchants, of Lexington, in Kentucky, praying to be paid the amount of eleven Treasury notes of twenty dollars each, which have been lost, by robbery of the mail between Lexington and Philadelphia.

Ordered, That the said petition be referred to the committee of Ways and Means.

Mr. Lattimore presented a petition of William Hargrave, praying that his title to a tract of land in the Mississippi Territory may be confirmed.
