Mr. Goldsborough, and Mr. Bassett, were appointed a committee to present the foregoing resolution to the President of the United States.

The House proceeded to consider the report of the select committee on the petitions of Samuel Thompson and John Daily, and the said report being read, was again ordered to lie on the table.

The House again resumed the consideration of the resolution submitted by Mr. Williams, to abolish the internal duties; and the question recurred on the amendment moved by Mr. Sheffey: Whereupon,

Mr Sheffey withdrew the same.

A motion was then made by Mr. Jackson, to lay the said resolution on the table. And the question being taken thereon,
