Mr. Crawford, from the joint committee for Enrolled Bills, reported that the committee did this day present to the President of the United States enrolled bills, entitled,

An act concerning the navigation of the United States;

An act freeing from postage all letters and packets to and from James Madison;

An act relating to the ransom of American captives of the late war;

An act for the relief of Park Holland;

An act, supplementary to an act, entitled, " An act concerning the naval establishment;"

An act granting a pension to commodore Ri chard Taylor;

An act for the relief of the legal representatives of John Yarnall, deceased;

An act, in addition to an act, entitled, “ An act for the more convenient taking of affidavits and bail in civil causes depending in courts of the United States;"

An act making reservation of certain public lands to supply timber for naval purposes;

An act authorizing vessels departing from the

town of the Bayou St. John, and basin of the canal de Carondelet, for foreign ports, to clear out at the custom-house in the city of New-Orleans;

An act for the relief of the legal representatives of Ignace Chalmet Delino, deceased, and of Anthony Cruzat and L. P. Duverges;

An act to enable the people of the western part of the Mississippi Territory to form a constitution and State government, and for the admission of such State into the Union on an equal footing with the original States; and

An act authorizing the settlement of the accounts of Flavil Sabin, deceased.

A message from the Senate, by Mr. Cutts, their Secretary:

Mr. Speaker-The Senate concur in the amendments proposed by this House to the bill, entitled, "An act to authorize the appointment of a surveyor of the lands in the northern part of the Mississippi Territory, and the sale of certain lands therein described," with amendments; in which they ask the concurrence of this House. And then he withdrew.

The said amendments were read and concurred in by the House.

Ordered, That the Clerk acquaint the Senate

therewith.

The House resolved itself into a committee of the whole on the bill supplementary to an act, entitled, "An act for the relief of persons imprisoned for debts due the United States," and on the several other bills committed to the said committee of the whole House; and after some time spent therein, Mr. Speaker resumed the chair, and Mr. Jackson reported the said bill supplementary to the act for the relief of persons imprisoned for debts due the United States; also, the bill autho

rizing the Secretary of the Treasury to remit the duties therein mentioned; the bill for the relief of Robert Burnside; the bill authorizing the Secretary of the Treasury to cause repayment to be made of certain alien duties; the bill for the relief of certain Creek Indians; the bill further to regulate the Territories of the United States, and their electing delegates to Congress, with amendments to the two latter; and asked leave for the committee of the whole House to sit again on the residue of the order.

The question was taken-" Shall the committee of the whole House have leave to sit again on the residue of the order?"

And determined in the negative.

Ordered, That the several subjects composing the residue of the order lie on the table.

Ordered, That the bill supplementary to an act providing for the relief of persons imprisoned for debts due the United States; the bill authorizing the Secretary of the Treasury to remit the duties therein mentioned; the bill for the relief of Robert Burnside; the bill for the relief of certain Creek Indians; and the bill authorizing the Secretary of the Treasury to cause repayment to be made of certain alien duties, be severally engrossed and read a third time to-day.

The amendments reported by the committee of the whole House to the bill further to regulate the 'Territories of the United States, and their electing delegates to Congress, were read and concurred in; and the said bill was further amended and ordered to be engrossed and read a third time today.
