And so the said bill was rejected, two thirds of

the House not agreeing to pass the same.

Ordered, That the Clerk acquaint the Senate therewith.

An engrossed bill, entitled, “An act for the relief of Anthony Buck," was read the third time and passed.

Ordered, That the title be as aforesaid, and that the Clerk carry the said bill to the Senate and ask their concurrence therein.

The amendments proposed by the Senate to the bill, entitled, An act concerning invalid pensions,” were read and concurred in by the House.

The amendments proposed by the Senate to the bill, entitled, "An act to amend an act, entitled, An act making further provision for military services during the late war, and for other purposes," were read and concurred in by the House.

The amendments proposed by the Senate to the bill, entitled," An act for the relief of Mary Wells," was read and concurred in by the House.

The amendments proposed by the Senate to the bill, entitled, "An act to regulate the trade in plaster of Paris," were read and concurred in by the House.

The amendments proposed by the Senate to the bill, entitled, “An act making provision for the location of the lands reserved by the first article of the treaty of the 9th of August, 1814, between the United States and the Creek nation of Indians, to certain chiefs and warriors of that nation, and for other purposes," were read and concurred in by the House.

Ordered, That the Clerk acquaint the Senate of the concurrence of the House in the amendments aforesaid.

The resolution from the Senate, respecting the contracts for printing for Congress, was read the

first and second time, and ordered to be read a third time to-day.

The said resolution was read the third time, accordingly, and passed.

Ordered, That the Clerk acquaint the Senate therewith.

The bill from the Senate, entitled, " An act compensating Peter Hagner," was read the first and second time, and committed to the committee of the whole House on the amendments proposed by the Senate to the bill, entitled, "An act making appropriations for the support of the navy of the United States for the year 1817."

The bill from the Senate, entitled, " An act for the relief of the heirs of William B. Carter," was read the first and second time, and ordered to lie on the table.

The House resolved itself into a committee of the whole, on the amendments of the Senate, to the bill entitled, "An act making appropriations for the support of the navy of the United States, during the year 1817; and on the amendments proposed by the Senate, to the several other bills committed to the said committee of the whole House; as also, on bills from the Senate of the following titles, to wit: "An act making appro priations for carrying into effect certain Indian treaties, and for other purposes," and "An act compensating Peter Hagner;" and after some time spent therein, Mr. Speaker resumed the chair, and Mr. Breckenridge reported the agreeinent of the committee to the amendments of the Senate to the bills entitled, "An act making ap propriations for the support of the navy of the United States, during the year 1817;" "An act making appropriations for the support of the military establishment of the United States, for the year 1817;" and "An act making additional ap

propriations to defray the expenses of the army and militia during the late war with Great Britain;" and their disagreement to the amendments of the Senate, to the bill entitled, "An act making further provision for repairing the public buildings and improving the public square." Mr. Breckenridge also reported the bills from the Senate above mentioned without amendment.

The amendments to the three first-mentioned bills were read, and severally concurred in by the House.

Ordered, That the Clerk acquaint the Senate therewith.

The amendments proposed by the Senate, to the bill "making further provision for repairing the public buildings and improving the publie square," were then read and disagreed to by the House.

Ordered, That the Clerk acquaint the Senate therewith.

Ordered, That the bill from the Senate entitled, "An act making appropriations for carrying into effect certain Indian treaties, and for other purposes," be read the third time to-day.

The said bill was accordingly read the third time and passed.

Mr. Thomas Wilson submitted the following resolution :

Resolved, That the Secretary of the Treasury

be directed to prepare and report to Congress, at the next session, the progress made in the United States' road from Cumberland to the Ohio river; the contracts which have been entered into; the terms of such contracts respectively, and perform ance on the part of such contractors respectively, in whole or in part, as the case may be. Also, an explicit description of the surveys made thereon, and such as have been made for the purpose of determining the most eligible route from Washington, in Pennsylvania, to the Ohio river; toge ther with a plan for establishing toll gates and for the collection of tolls thereon, and for limiting the tolls to a certain per centum upon the amount of capital expended upon the work, after deducting repairs.

The question was taken-" Will the House now proceed to consider the said resolution ?"

And determined in the negative

Mr. Speaker The Senate concur in the amendments proposed by this House to the bill, entitled "An act to incorporate the subscribers to certain banks within the District of Columbia, and to prevent the circulation of the notes of unchartered associations within the said District." The Senate have passed bills from this House of the following titles, to wit:
