Ordered, That the Clerk acquaint the Senate therewith.

Ordered, That the committee appointed on so much of the President's message, at the commencement of the session, as relates to an uniformity in weights and measures, be discharged from a further consideration of that subject.

On motion of Mr. Hugh Nelson,

Resolved, That there be paid out of the contingent fund of this House, to John Oswald Dunn, Elextius Spalding, George N. Thomas, William Pancoast, Samuel Stewart, William Lenman, James Barron, and George Cooper, the extra sum of one hundred dollars, each, as a gratuity for their uniform good conduct in the service of this House.

Resolved, That the extra sum of two hundred dollars be paid to James Claxton, out of the contingent fund of this House, for his faithful services in the post-office of this House.

Mr. Taul, from the committee for Enrolled Bills. reported that the committee bad presented to the President of the United States the several enrolled bills, and resolution, the examination of which was last reported.

A message from the Senate, by Mr. Cutts, their Secretary:

Mr. Speaker-The Senate have postponed, until

the 4th day of March, instant, the bill of this House, entitled, "An act extending the time for locating Virginia military land warrants, and for returning the surveys thereon to the general land office, and for giving further time to complete the surveys and obtain patents for lands located under Virginia resolution warrants."

A message was received from the President of the United States, by Mr. Todd, his Secretary, informing that the President did this day approve and sign enrolled bills of the following titles:

An act making appropriations for the support of government for the year 1817;

An act to amend the act authorizing the payment for property lost, captured, or destroyed by the enemy, while in the military service of the United States, and for other purposes, passed the 9th of April, 1816;

An act further to regulate the Territories of the United States, and their electing delegates to Congress;

An act for the relief of the widows and orphans of the officers, seamen, and marines, who were lost in the United States' brig Epervier;

An act to amend the act, entitled, "An act granting bounties in land and extra pay, to Canadian volunteers," passed 5th of March, 1816;

An act to authorize the extension of the Columbian turnpike road within the District of Columbia.. An act making an appropriation for opening and cutting out a road therein described;

An act to provide for furnishing the house of. the President of the United States;

An act repealing the act, entitled, “An act for the safe keeping and accommodation of prisoners of war," passed July 6th, 1812;
