authorize the importation into Grenada, of books, being foreign reprints of books first composed, or written, or printed, or published in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and in which there shall be copyright," whereby provision is made for protecting the rights of British authors in the said colony;

And whereas Her Majesty has expressed Her royal approval of the said Act;

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of Her Privy Council, and by the authority of the same, doth order, and it is hereby ordered, that so long as the said Act shall remain and continue in force within the said colony, all prohibitions in any of the said hereinbefore recited Acts of the Imperial Parliament, or in any other Acts thereof contained against the importing into the said colony, or against the selling, letting out to hire, exposing for sale or hire, or possessing therein, foreign reprints of books first composed, written, printed, or published in the United Kingdom, and entitled to copyright therein, shall be suspended so far as regards the said colony.

And the Most Noble the Duke of Newcastle, one of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, and the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury, are to give the necessary directions herein as to them may respectively appertain. C. C. Greville.

The Right Honourable the Lords of the Committee of the Privy Council for Trade and Plantations have received, through the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, a copy of a Despatch from Her Majesty's Consul at Elsinore, transmitting copy of a Notice (a translation of which is subjoined), issued by the Danish Marine Board, relative to an alteration which is shortly to be made in the Light Beacons, at List, in the Island of Sylt.

In order the better to distinguish from seaward the East from the West Light Beacon at List, in the Island of Sylt, west coast of Sleswig, the former is about to be elevated from 97 to 110 feet above the level of the sea.

The projected elevation, when completed, will in due time be made public.

which came into operation on the 1st instant.

The Right Honourable the Lords of the Committee of Privy Council for Trade and Plantations have received, through the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, a copy of a Despatch from Her Majesty's Consul at Rotterdam, transmitting a translation of a Decree relative to the importation of grain and other provisions into The Netherlands, and the rates of duty to be in force on the same until the 1st October, 1854, of which the subjoined is a copy.

(Staatsblad No. 139.) Decree of 23 December, 1853, relative to measures for the encouragement of the Import of Grain and other Provisions. We William III, &c., &c., &c.,

Having taken into consideration that, in consequence of the special measures adopted by neighbouring States to encourage the import of grain and other provisions, it has become necessary likewise in this country to adopt extraordinary means to encourage the import of said articles.

Having seen our Decree of 15th September, 1853 (Staatsblad No. 103), and attending to Art. 2 of the Law of 19th June, 1845 (Staatsblad No. 28): Having heard the Council of State, and in common concert with the States General,

Have decreed, and do decree,

Art. I. The levying of the duties on the importation of potatoes and millet, as fixed by Tariff added to the Law of 19th June, 1845 (Staatsblad No. 28), and of the duties on the importation of wheat and peeled spelt, rye, maize, or Turkish corn, barley and walt, buckwheat, oats, and unpeeled spelt, beans, tares, peas, and lentils, groats, grits, and peeled barley, as fixed by Art. 2 of the Law of 30th May, 1847 (Staatsblad No. 24), and by the Law of 3rd March, 1852 (Staatsblad No. 19), is suspended till the 1st October, 1854.
