An order from the Poor Law Board to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the parish of Callington, in the county of Cornwall, and to all others whom it may concern, dated 13th January, 1853, directs that so much of the Act passed on the 5th August, 1850 (13th and 14th Vict. c. 57), as relates to the providing of a room or suitable building for the purpose of holding any vestry or other meetings for the transaction of any business of or relating to the said parish shall forthwith be applied to and be put in force within the said parish of Callington.

THE Queen has been pleased to appoint Edward Rawdon Power, Esq., to be Assistant Colonial Secretary for the Island of Ceylon, and Philip Watson Braybrooke, Esq., to be Assistant Government Agent, District Judge, Commissioner of Requests, and Police Magistrate of Badulla, in that Island.
