Mr. Barclay Martin moved that the vote on agreeing to the said amendment be reconsidered; and moved the previous question.

Mr. Wheaton, from the Committee on Enrolled Bills, reported that the committee have examined enrolled bills of the Senate of the following titles, viz:

The Speaker signed the said bills.
The bill from the Senate (No. 51) entitled "An act to provide for the payment of the evidences of public debt in certain cases" was read a first and second time, and referred to the Committee of Ways and Means.
The House proceeded to consider again their amendment, disagreed to by the Senate, to the bill from the Senate (No. 49) entitled "An act for the relief of Richard Elliott."
Mr. Brodhead moved that the House recede from its said amendment, disagreed to by the Senate.
And the question being put,

Resolved, That the House insist upon its said amendment to the said bill from the Senate (No. 49) entitled "An act for the relief of Richard Elliott."

A message from the Senate, by Mr. Dickins, their Secretary:
Mr. Speaker: The Senate have passed a bill (No. 243) entitled "An act in relation to the time of holding the circuit and district courts of the United States for the district of Ohio:" in which I am directed to ask the concurrence of the House.
On motion of Mr. Garrett Davis, the House resolved itself into the Committee of the Whole House on the state of the Union; and, after some time spent therein, the Speaker resumed the chair, and Mr. Reid reported that the committee having, according to order, had the state of the Union generally under consideration, particularly the bill (H. R. No. 433) to amend the act approved the 3d of March, 1845, entitled "An act to reduce the rates of postage, to limit the use and correct the abuse of the franking privilege, and for the prevention of frauds on the revenues of the Post Office Department," and finding itself without a quorum, had risen.
Mr. Dromgoole moved that there be a call of the House: which motion was disagreed to.
And then, on motion of Mr. Sawyer, the House, at thirty minutes past 1 o'clock, p. m., adjourned until to-morrow, at 10 o'clock, a. m.
The Speaker announced as the first business in order the bill from the Senate (No. 57) entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to provide revenue from imports, and to change and modify existing laws imposing duties on imports, and for other purposes,''* which was yesterday postponed until this day.
Mr. Hopkins moved that the consideration of the said bill be postponed until to-morrow.
And the question being put,
It was decided in the affirmative.
So the said special order was postponed.
