CHAP. 9. An act continuing in force certain acts, laying duties on bank notes, refined sugars, and for other purposes.

§ 1. Be it enacted, &c. That the act, entitled "An act laying duties on notes of banks, bankers, and certain companies; on notes, bonds, and obligations, discounted by banks, bankers, and certain companies; and on bills of exchange of certain descriptions," passed the second day of August, one thousand eight hundred and thirteen, and the act supplementary to said act, passed the tenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred Vol. ii. p.1336. and fourteen, and the act, entitled "Ah.act laying duties on surefined within the United States," passed the twenty-fourth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and thirteen, shall be, and the same are hereby, continued in force; any thing in the said acts in any wise to the contrary notwithstanding. CHAP. 10. An act to continue in force the act, entitled "An act for imposing additional duties upon all goods, wares, ând merchandise, imported from any foreign port or place, and for other purposes,"

§ 1. Be it enacted, &c. That the additional duties upon goods, wares, and merchandise, imported into the United States, and upon the fonnage of vessels, imposed by the act, entitled "An by the act of act for. imposing additional duties upon all goods, wares, and 1st. CHAP. 24. An act to reduce the amount of direct tax upon the United States and the District of Columbia, for the year one thousand eight hundred and sixteen; and to repeal, in part, the act, entitled "An act to provide additional revenues for defraying the expenses of government, and maintaining the public credit, by laying a direct tax upon the United States, and to provide for assessing and collecting the same;" and also the act, entitled "An act to provide additional revenue for defraying the expenses of government, and maintaining the public credit, by laying a direct tax upon the District of Columbia."

1. Be it enacted, &c.
