This psalm probably belongs to the period of 2 Sam. 7. Suffering under calumny. God the righteous Judge. CHRIST AS HE SPEAKS THIS PSALM IN THE PERSON OF HIS FAITHFUL DISCIPLES, IS DESCRIBED IN THE WORDS OF THE PROPHET," HE PUT ON RIGHTEOUSNESS AS A BREASTPLATE, AND AN HELMET OF SALVATION UPON HIS HEAD; AND HE PUT ON THE GARMENTS OF VENGEANCE." Is. 59:17.
