PSALM 72.

(A Psalm) of Solomon.

Third Great Messianic Psalm. (Pss. 2, 45, 72, 110). The Righteousness and the Glory of the Son of David. "A GREATER THAN SOLOMON IS HERE" (S. Mat. 12:42), EVEN MESSIAH, CHRIST THE KING.

The perpetuity of His Kingdom.

vv. I-7.

I "Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS Jer. 23:5, 6. "The Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son" S. Jo. 5:22.

2 He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment. Verses 4, 12, 13. See Is. 11:4; 16:5. 3 Lit. Mountains and hills shall yield peace to the people, in righteousness.
