IN presenting a new edition of the "OUTLINES OF ENGLISH LITERATURE," the publishers have thought that a brief sketch of what has been accomplished by the authors of this country would render it more complete and more suitable for the use to which it has been applied, as a classbook in many of our best seminaries and academies. They have, therefore, induced Mr. TUCKERMAN to undertake that task, which he has executed upon the same general plan as that adopted by the author.
